A voice actor essentially works harder than a Hollywood superstar. It’s real tough for him to show feelings and emotions while reading, fully knowing that he will not be seen on the screen. He must jump into the skin of the character and pump life into the dialogues. This is where voice over training comes into play.
Voice over training aids voice actors understand the craft and find gainful employment in a growing area. There are 1000s of cartoon and animated TV shows, web shows, TV/radio advertisements, web videos, and movies being made continually. Take note that about 20 to 30 characters make up the cast of just one movie or TV show. There are worldwide opportunities galore for a voice actor.
Basic skills required to join a voice over training course
One of the most important tools of the trade is diction. The student must have perfect enunciation and for that reason must attend speech classes to get his diction properly. A voice talent would always have two roles to perform – the “acting,” and the “lending voice.” So, fantastic diction is not enough to begin voice over training – the student must also enroll in an acting course prior to joining the voice over course.
What does a voiceover training course teach?
The student learns how to evaluate and interpret commercial copy for announcer and real-person roles. Interpreting narrative copy, as well as technical copy, are learned as well. Students learn how to coordinate the mind, mouth and voice efficiently, so that they may be able to sound really true to the personality they are playing. The student also learns how to take direction.
A great voice actor training course makes students read, record, play back, listen, and then do it repeatedly until they get it right. Students learn tactics such as inflection, timing and articulation. They perform warm-ups and vocal exercises as well. They figure out how to preserve their voice fitness. Half-way into the voice over training course, students become proficient at using and adjusting tone, pitch, delivery speed and volume for a selection of jobs.
After the main training is over, students learn how to promote their skills, tap the right contacts, and get voice over work. Instructors of the voice over course also assist them in creating a voice over demo, which would become part of their portfolio. An opportunity to experience working in a real studio is provided in a solid voice over training course for students. They also learn what the do’s and don’ts are whenever they are behind the microphone or in a sound booth.
Choosing a voice over training program
There are two facets to voice training. A commercial voice over course must be opted for by students who are interested in selling. Commercial voice overs are used for selling. TV advertisements, radio ads, phone and other media feature these voice overs. Selling skills are also covered by a voice over course since all commercial voice overs sell a service or a product. This program does not include acting skills. Students who are interested in showbiz must opt for a TV and movie voice over and dubbing program. Such courses require lip-synching, and so the voice over actor has to learn acting skillsets too.
To conclude, all the world’s a stage and we must play a part. So, if you want to play your part as a voice actor, enroll for a well-known voice actor training course and learn how to raise your voice.

A recent study by the American Psychiatric Association of Psychiatric Services concludes a direct connection between sleep apnea and certain psychiatric conditions. It also points out that the solutions for psychiatric patients are just as simple as those for all individuals suffering from sleep apnea. Companies like Rematee provide a solution that is both non-evasive and ensures side sleeping.
Sleep apnea is a relatively common sleep disorder that causes patients to stop breathing from 20 seconds to 40 seconds, due to a relaxed and thus partially collapsed airway. Although it will not outright wake its victims, it will bring them to a lighter stage of sleep, disrupting the rest and relaxation needed by the brain, as well as other parts of the body.
Because the brain is so affected by this sleep disorder, much research is being done as to how it relates to psychiatric conditions. Studies are showing that the effects of sleep apnea on certain mental conditions, including that of Alzheimer’s disease, are actually quite prominent.
Some of the most conclusive research was done at the University of California, San Diego, where Sonia Ancoli-Israel, Ph.D., one of the nation’s leading experts on sleep disorders, works as a professor of psychiatry. Her research was specific to aging populations, and has been published in the Journal of the American Geriatric Society.
After looking at 52 different men and women suffering from Alzheimer’s and OSA (obstructive sleep apnea), Ancoli-Israel, alongside other researchers, found that the lowered oxygen levels available during sleep can worsen cognitive function while awake.
Test subjects that were treated with CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure), a breathing machine commonly used by sleep apnea sufferers, showed improved cognitive functions after a matter of weeks. This suggests that continued use could lead to continued improvements, though there are no studies that suggest CPAP treatments can cure Alzheimer’s in sleep apnea patients.
For more information about this study, read this recent article from Family Practice News.
However, the CPAP machine is an expensive solutionone that may not be necessary if the problem can be solved in less expensive, but still effective way. Using positional therapy, Rematee has designed an Anti Snore Shirt and a Bumper Belt, both of which provide enough pressure to prevent the sleeper from rolling over and obstructing their airway, yet are gentle enough so that the wearer does not awaken. Rematees products essentially re-educate the individual to sleep on their side, which counteracts gravity and keeps their airway from collapsing, thus stopping one of the major causes of sleep apnea.
The research detailed above clarifies the need for a fast and efficient diagnoses of sleep apnea, as well as immediate, responsible treatment. Before investing a surplus of money on expensive therapies, try sleeping on your side. If you notice an improvement but you’re struggling to remain on your side at night, that’s where Rematee can help. You can find out more about Rematee on their website at http://www.rematee.com/

Google “stop snoring”. It will return over one million results. The snoring niche is definitely big business. There are many, many treatments, remedies, and devices designed to help a person stop or moderate snoring. The choices can be downright overwhelming, and you could end up spending a great deal of money and find that you still snore as much as ever. Let’s take a look at some of the more common stop snore remedies, remedies that have proven over time to work.
Exercises
Stop snoring exercises are free and they work. Sing in the shower, press your tongue to the roof of your mouth, do an extended yawn where you move your jaw forward, or do an exaggerated chewing motion. All are designed to strengthen the throat muscles. Toned muscles take up less space so your throat is less likely to become blocked when you sleep. Firm muscles won’t sag into your airway, causing you to snore.
Chin Straps
The most common type of snoring is with the mouth open.
Close the mouth and you are forced to breathe through your nose, eliminating the snoring. If your mouth sags open after you fall asleep and you begin snoring, a chin strap should help you. It goes under your chin and attaches across the top of the head.
Mouth Guards
Stop snoring mouth guards work by gently moving the jaw slightly forward, keeping it from restricting the airway while sleeping. Some also gently hold the tongue in place, keeping it from falling back in the throat. They can be quite pricey since the custom fit ones are only available by prescription through your dentist. However, you can get inexpensive rubber mouthpieces through the Internet or at drug stores.
Nasal Separator
Many people snore through their nose, not their mouth, so mouth guards and chin straps probably won’t work for them. A nasal separator may be the answer for them. It is inserted into the nostrils and works by opening the nostrils and gently forcing them forward, keeping the nasal airway unobstructed.
Stop Snoring Ring
This ring, usually made of silver or copper, is worn on the little finger of the left hand while in bed. It works by stimulating an acupressure point that goes to the brain, quieting the nerves that control snoring. It may sound like voodoo medicine to a Westerner, but acupressure has been used successfully by the Chinese for a couple of thousand years. A stop snoring ring might be the answer for someone who can’t comfortably wear any of the other devices while sleeping.
As you can see, there are many different snore remedies for all types of snoring. Armed with information gathered during your research and with a little diligence, you will be able to find a snoring remedy that will work for you.
