Reduce Snoring
My husband has an 8 month old English Bulldog (male). The dog snores so loudly that we are going to have to make him sleep by himself soon because I lose hours of sleep every night. Is there any way to reduce the volume. Well, I have your answer. Ear Plugs ….
this is the charm of the flat nose breeds. there isn't much you can do other than putting him in another room but even then you may be able to hear him but not as bad.
Have your vet check the soft pallet and the throat to see if the laryngeal sacules have everted. You may also want to have the nostrils looked at: sometimes they are very small and contribute to the snoring.
This airway constriction is one of the reasons that I think that the bull dog club needs to change the breed standard. I hate what people have done to this breed. I cannot imagine how awful it would be to be chronically oxygen deficient, unable to breathe. Oh wait, I had asthma, I know exactly how it feels: terrifying. These are the only breed of dog that I have recovered from anesthesia and left the tube in, with the dog totally awake, breathing happily, free from sturdor. I have even seen one of these dogs almost die from freaking out, not being able to breathe.
i don't think so. . . close the door!
Sometimes snoring is due to elongated soft pallet. Your vet can tell you is this a problem for him as it can result in breathing problems. This can be fixed with surgery. Although your bulldog is snoring doesn't automatically mean he needs the surgey. Snoring is part of the beautiful package of the bulldog. If the snoring bothers you, place his bed in the opposite area of your house from your bedroom. Personally, I can't fall asleep without hearing my 2 bulldogs snoring away. . . although my boyfriends snoring annoys me! But I just pinch his nose
No.
no and you better start making him sleep by his self now are it will be to late. my daughter and son both have them. my daughter trained hers to sleep in the kennel at night . my son let his sleep with him and you can not get him to sleep any where else. he’ll howl all night long.
A bit of research on this breed ahead of time would have alerted you to the fact that this breed snores. they have short noses, constricted airways, and fatty deposits in the throat make it worse. No, I don't know of anything you could do now that you own a bulldog. If you find something you can do, pass it along to a lot of wives. They have been asking this question for years. LOL
Good luck.
Unfortunately not, except trying to wake him for the moment, but it will resume before you get back to sleep (and sometimes worse for the ware).
We have a male Rottweiler that snores like nothing i've heard before. . . . . . . . it doesn't only wake my husband and myself, he wakes the kids in the other room. . . . . . . lol. . . . how's that for a bad night's sleep!
My husband does the occasional pillow toss at him, while he's in his glory on the floor. . . . . . . . . . . . . . but it doesn't help, I personally think he gets louder just to get some satisfaction out of my hubby disturbing his slumber. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . LOL
Thinking of making your dog stay out of the room. . . . . . . . . they have the answer for that too. . . . . . . . . . . they will reside right by the base of your door, snout oh so close to the opening between the door and the floor, and (throw their voice. . . . . . . in this case, throw their snore), right into your eardrum, this makes a very unpleasent night for all.
Try earplugs!!!!!! GOOD LUCK
It's the nature of the breed. Nothing you can do. Put him in another room to sleep.
