Sleep Apnea Aids
Now I take escalith ( I suffer from bi-polar). . My question is . . Could the Escalith be making me tired . . Because since I started taking it I have trouble getting up in the morning and staying awake. Until after like 2:00. After speaking to others on the web, I found the answer. Airam, Although that is one of the possible side effects of that drug I am wonderning about your treatment for sleep apnea. The "sleep aid" I assume is a CPAP machine??????? If so do you use it every night? The reason I ask is that sleep depreviation of what is called REM sleep , this is the sixth level of sleep where your eyes rapid eye movement. Is where your brain gets its sleep. And sleep apnea keeps you from getting to this level because the upper brain is constantly having to tell the lungs to breath. This in REM is handled by the lower brain on auto breath not requiring any thought . Your body gets rest in sleep one through five but the brain only really rest in the last level of REM. This lack of REM can cause depression in itself. Sleep apnea actually caused things that mimicks bi-polar disorders. So it is very important that you are getting proper treatment for the sleep apnea. I recommend that you go back to your Sleep Doctor tell him you need something to help you sleep through the night . See if just a good nights sleep helps with the depression and you could back off the Escal depending on how you feel. It really sounds like you just are suffering from symptoms of sleep deprevation of REM sleep. Which happens frequently with sleep apnea patients. See your Doctor or Practioner for a Prescription APS
I take Eskalith too. I have Bipolar1. Yeah, it makes me tired and I hate it very much. It gives me stomach trouble as well as tiredness. As much as I hate it, I know I have to take it to stay (somewhat) sane. Try to handle it the best you can.
I am assuming sleep apnea is not the problem since you have been diagnosised. Do you have a CPAP? Make sure the settings at your sleep clinic match that of your CPAP.
Go see your prescribing doctor. Do they plan on doing blood levels to make sure you have the right amount of medicine in your body? Sometimes escalith will make you tired either b/c the lack of water, high escalith levels in your blood, or your new to the medication.
Either way talk to your Doctor about your concerns. Good luck
yes it could be but I would have your apnea checked again because ive had have my settings changed a couple times
