Breathing Snoring

My little brother is 10 years old. For as long as I can remember, he just naturally breathes really heavy. It almost sounds like he just got finished running or something. He also snores REALLY loud. He's not sick or anything. None of us can figure out what it is that causes him to breathe like this. FYI: He's10. 5'1. Weighs about 100-110 lbs (according to him). He is a little chunky. Any REAL suggestions would be great. I think I found an answer. He may have sleep apnea. Does he pause at all between breaths? Is he sleepy during the day? Breathing hard during sleep and snoring a lot suggests big tonsils, which can cause apnea. Or, he may have an abnormally long soft palate that vibrates during sleep and causes snoring. He really should view the family doctor about the problem.
